Set of 4 Vintage mid century 1920s Art Deco dinner plate ‘HIND’ frm Rörstrand Sweden / 25 cm.
Founded in 1726 in Stockholm’s Rörstrand castle, Rörstrand is Europe’s second-oldest ceramic factory, after Meissen. Backed by a consortium of noblemen and merchants, German porcelain maker Johann Wolff initiated the factory as part of Sweden’s mercantilist movement. Initially producing fragile tin-glazed earthenware, Rörstrand transitioned to pottery, gaining success in the early 1900s with Art Nouveau style. Led by Alf Wallander, the factory achieved international acclaim. In 1926, Rörstrand relocated to Gothenburg and later to Lidköping.
