Vintage 1970s Kosta Boda embossed ‘leaf’ pattern, which is part of Kosta’s hand made ‘Party’ series designed by Ann & Goran Warff in 1975. Every candle holder of this line is unique due to the hand pressing of the glass into a mold – no two are identical. The topside is smooth while the underside is textured with a strawberry leaf pattern. A classical timeless design that never will lose style.
Kosta Boda is one of the world’s leading brands of glassware and art glass. Technology and an understanding of glass have been refined here in the heart of the forests in the Swedish province of Småland ever since 1742. Their glassware is vibrant, bold, innovative and provocative. Kosta glassworks is Sweden’s oldest still operating glassworks. The furnaces here have been lit since 1742.
Ann Wärff was a founding figure in international “Studio Glass”. During a career that to date spans forty years, she has worked as an engraver, a vessel maker, a sculptor, a stained glass artist, a water-colourist and a designer for industry. Ann Warff married Swedish glass artist Göran Wärff and worked with him as a designer team at Pukebergs Glasbruk 1960-1964, and then at Kosta Boda 1964-1970.
Göran Wärff (1933) is one of the well-known representatives of the illustrious Swedish glass design of the 20th century. He is one of the leading designers for Kosta-Boda since the 1960s. Göran is represented at the Swedish National Museum of Art and Design.
